Shoes, Lights, and Generally Happy Things

I found the coolest shoes in the world. Check them out here

In other news, today I learned a TON more about lights!! I learned how to patch (basically a big word for programming) using the base 2 system, how to "go blind" on the light board, use a lift, screw on lights, change lenses, learned about different gels, setting up a new subpage, and unpatch lights... there was so much more! I had so much fun!!
This is a really cool picture of the LED's... this is in one LED can light, :) I'm so excited about all this stuff!!!

So yes, I shall try to post pictures of me running the board, but I couldn't find the picture of it currently.
My friend Amy Justice took the LED picture!
Have one awesome day, keep sinking up!

Sweetly Broken

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

Am I Bound?

Feeling empty and broken
I want to be used
But who knows for what?
The purpose is muddy
The Water is clear

So I'll lose myself in the flood
Of knowledge and life

Confused and cowardly
Life's moving fast
What's lost is found
But to where am I bound?
My heart feels like lead (like lead, like lead)

Are we what we're told?
Can we age inside
But not grow old?

To where am I bound (am I bound am I bound?)

Bricks and Buildings

Bricks and Buildings
Where's your soul
The stones and mortar
Don't make you whole

You're left empty you've got no life
But we move on thinking we're quite alright
Ignoring the cracks in the foundation of sane
You move on through life ignoring the pain

Where's your soul, where's your soul
Sharp glistening metal, a sparkle of glass
The sidewalks are dirty
But nobody cares
We're moving to fast
To look at our feet

Foundation is cracking
Hearts are aching
What we didn't realize
Is that we all were faking

What we thought was our mind
Was really our soul
Our hearts were of brick and of morter and stone
The metal was what we thought were our bones

Waiting on Someone who already came
Did we miss Him? Did we miss Him?
Is there hope for the lost who thought they were found
Did they miss Him? Did they miss Him?

Bricks and Buildings
Where's your soul
The stones and mortar
Don't make you whole

Do You Know Him?

Storybook

In the twisted plot of life, one thing always remains a constant:
God's always in control.

Nothing surprises him. He knows how every romance novel ends, he knows the number of hairs on everyones heads....
Why do we constantly thing that we are an exception to the "I know the plans I have" verse?
We aren't 'special' enough to be excluded from God's grace, soveriegnty, and omniscience.

He knows exactly what's going on, and exactly how it will end.
And don't forget, we get a "sneak preview" to the last book in the series.

WE KNOW that in the end Jesus wins, there's a good ending to the series!!

It's just the waiting for the next released book before the end that's hard!!
But rest knowing this; All you have to do is wait. You don't have to write the next chapter. The pen gets to stay in the authors hand. And no... you can't be the co-author. You aren't even the hero in the book... the Author's Son get's that role.

And that is something we all can sleep on.
"Be still and know"
Keep sinking up!

The Resurrection

We are reading "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel for theology this year, in his book he mentioned a debate between Dr. Gary Habermas and Dr. Antony Flew, being a sucker for debates... Brooke and I decided to check it out... this is a video of it:

Fear of Failure

I cannot destroy what God has done. 'All things work together for good.' (Rom 8:28) Even if it seems as if with my own two hands I have pulled everything apart, God still loves me; 'If he is for us, who can be against us?' (Rom 8:31) (Not even myself!)

I am not God. I may 'roll the dice, but the Lord determines where they fall'. (Proverbs 16:33)

'Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died-- more than that who was raised-- who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us'
(Rom 8:31-34)

I cannot fall out of Christ's love. 'It is finished' (John 19:30) 'There is now no condemnation' (Rom 8:1) 'For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come--- will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.' (Rom 8:38)

His grace is sufficient. His love can withstand any attack, including mine. My lack of planning in the present, my failure of success in the future... it can't mess things up.

I am secure in the blood of Jesus.

That's what the cross means. That's why it's called good Friday, because 'it is finished'. My fate is sealed. It cannot be broken. My victory is secure. My hope is everlasting.... And I can't mess it up!!

It Is Finished.

"It is finished"
Some of the most blessed words ever uttered in history.

Today we remember the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made on the cross for us some 2,000 odd years ago. To think that only some of the world knows of the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross is deeply saddening, if only they knew the magnitude of the effect one small execution makes on their daily lives.

We are fallen and utterly deprived. We need a savior. Oh, the sweet sweet words of Isaiah:

He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.
Like one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he took up our infirmities
and carried our sorrows,
yet we considered him stricken by God,
smitten by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.

Isaiah 53:3-5

His execution 2,000 years ago still effects us today. For now there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)

Remember him today, and thank him for the sacrifice he made on your behalf.
