Some of the most blessed words ever uttered in history.
Today we remember the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made on the cross for us some 2,000 odd years ago. To think that only some of the world knows of the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross is deeply saddening, if only they knew the magnitude of the effect one small execution makes on their daily lives.
We are fallen and utterly deprived. We need a savior. Oh, the sweet sweet words of Isaiah:
He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.
Like one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he took up our infirmities
and carried our sorrows,
yet we considered him stricken by God,
smitten by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
Isaiah 53:3-5
His execution 2,000 years ago still effects us today. For now there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)
Remember him today, and thank him for the sacrifice he made on your behalf.
